Walked
a bit around Reims, saw Notre Dame (we were beginning
to see a trend…), went on a tour at Taittinger (a top Champagne
maker) and saw the wine cellars (or caves as they’re called.)
Don asked a question while on the tour and was thenceforth dubbed the degorgement
guy and also got into a strange conversation with a Scottish man after
inadvertantly using the word colony in his presence. Though the skeletons
of the monks had been excavated from the caves, it can't hurt to tell the
guide that you'd been promised a bone as a relic for part of the tour…
We drove on to Dijon for the night (beautiful skies along the
way.) Rubber ceilings provide good resistance to rocket-powered Champagne
corks. Mike highly recommends a night's sleep in a good Pinot and Meuniere
mix.
